Highland Park Grand Opening!
The Community Services Department of the City of Redding is pleased to announce to Grand
Opening of Highland Park Neighborhood Park. The park is a partnership between the City of
Redding and Palomar Homes. The first phase of the project will be dedicated on Saturday,
November 23, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Improvements include a large playground, basketball court, ball wall, picnic shelter, and restroom. Future phases will provide for playing fields and walking trails.
City of Redding Director of Community Services notes, "The City's Park Master Plan seeks to
provide a park facility within one half mile or 10 minute walk of most residents. Working with
Palomar, this park will serve not only Highland Park residents but also the adjacent

traditional swings set to a very contemporary 22-foot Pentaweb. There is something for
everyone," says Gary Kimbrough of NSP3, a Redding-based playground equipment supplier.
The Park's first phase cost approximately $786,000 and was funded through park development fees attributed to the homes constructed in the Highland Park development.
Highland Park is located at 500 Rogue River Way in the new Highland Park Subdivision.

Closed December 24th
and Furlough Fridays
On certain Fridays, the Recreation Office (located at 1250 Parkview Ave.) will be closed as part of the City wide Furlough Friday. We will typically reopen the following Monday. All other Recreation programs, camps, events, etc. will remain open and staffed. Closure dates for 2013-2014 are: 11/1, 11/15, 12/6, 12/13, 12/27, 1/10,1/24 ,2/7, 2/21, 3/7, 3/21, 4/4, 4/18, 5/2, 5/16, 5/30, 6/13.
Enjoy smoke-free parks
Because we value modeling a healthy lifestyle to youth in our recreation program, the City of Redding passed a smoke-free parks policy beginning November 16, 2012.
