"Go outside and play," my siblings and I would often receive this counsel from our mom. For us that meant, bike rides around the block, tennis practice against the garage door or kickball in the street with friends. While times have changed, the need for physical play is more important than ever. With our partners at Healthy Shasta we are encouraging families to do just that, "go outside and play." Incorporating spontaneous, unstructured activity into daily life will make a difference in your health.
Summer is fast approaching and we are very excited about the range and quality of offerings available. Fantasy Fountain re-opens with new features and extended hours. The Redding Aquatic Center is looking forward to another exciting season. The new inflatables called Wibits will be out all summer long for a new challenge on the water. We also received new stand-up paddleboards, more bouyant than ever and great for learning. Summer camps offer a full range of acitivities for all interests and ages.
We have several park improvements planned including new adventure playground at Caldwell Park, new play equipment at Lake Redding and Amethyst Parks, and a new shade structure at basketball court at Caldwell Park. We look forward to seeing you and we appreciate your participation and support.

Recreation Strategic Plan

Our Strategic Plan forms the blueprint around which we structure our programs and recreational initiatives. Our Services

On a year-round basis Redding Recreation provides opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to pursue hobbies, develop talents, form new friendships, and enjoy various sports.
During our infamous hot summers we offer swimming classes and a variety of aquatics programs. We are especially excited about the Redding Aquatic Center which features an olympic sized pool, a second pool and water slides.

Two large city parks and numerous smaller parks provide ample facilities for picnics and family fun. In addition to our current programs, Redding Recreation is continually seeking new ways to meet the ever-changing needs of our community.
